    Last good verison of tinyxp was rev06 comes with hirens boot tools (not included in this release) firefox replaces opera and the theme is the windows media centre default luna I think its called much better then aero imo, boots in around 30 seconds on my dual core

    As silly as this question is gonna be, i have to ask it. There are seven .rar files each contain an ISO of the OS, but as i said there is seven of them. i’ve burned each part to a separate disc and non of them work, there is no option to install tinyxp on a partition belonging to my old HDD or my completely empty new one. Also there is a program called hashcalc.exe contained in the version i DL’ed, does that need to be on the disc too? Some of you may think i’m being a noob but i ain’t that technically minded so i would appreciate a bit of help, thanks.

    Question,

    You should use Winrar (even the trial version will do, as far as I know) and extract the .part1 file. It will automatically detect the other parts and combine them into one .iso file. You can use the freeware program isorecorder to burn it flawless on a single blank CD. After installing isorecorder you can easily record iso-files just by right-clicking them in windows explorer.

    Someone in the Pirate Bay comments of the torrent mentioned vistadrive.exe to be part of the installation, which is known as being quite dangerous malware. Can anybody here explain how to deal with this?

    your not supposed to extract any of them untill all the rar files are in the same folder. All those cds i hate to say you wasted.. try again..

    You should download winrar, install that, then use it to open the first rar file. Extract the contents from that file, and it should automatically extract the contents of the other rar files. You should get an ISO file, which you can burn with Nero or with ISO Recorder ( http://www.google.com/search?q=iso+recorder&num=100 ).

    I’m not sure, but I think hashcalc.exe is just to verify checksums (haven’t tried it myself).

    some people are just too stupid to read the article before posting, for those trying to burn the files to 7 different discs:
    get yourself a brain..
    1) no, you do not burn them all to a separate CD or DVD, it’s 1 big ISO split into different files because rapidshare does not allow more then 100 MB pef file.
    2) YES you can boot from USB, that what the article is about, stop asking fucking questions like that and just read, copy to memory stick (one that is big enough, don’t come wining “it doesn’t work” when you use one from 512 or less, go for 2 gig)
    3) again.. to many posts “i can’t boot this from CD” no, seriously? maybe thats why it said USB edidion you fucking morons!

    I’m having the same problem as Steve. I’ve got parallels trying to install TinyXP but it’s asking for a product key. I actually have a few XP product keys from other disks, but they’re not working. I still get this:

    Make sure you unzip 1st part initially, all the parts will form the ISO automatically when you do this, then make sure when you’re burning the ISO to a CD you are firstly not burning the folder that it’s in and secondly that you are using a program that actually supports burning ISOs and not just normal data CDs.

    I recommend IMGBurn

    Actually I didn’t burn it to a CD. With Parallels you can just use an ISO image. It looks like the only time it asks for a product key is through parallels. Guess I’ll just have to put a full version on here.

    OMG you people should not even be allowed NEAR a computer with these questions!

    READ everything 1st!!!

    install the correct type for your computer or needs.

    The iso MUST be burnt to a CD or DVD in order to boot and install correctly.

    To boot from your CD drive you will need to enter your BIOS setup and set boot sequence to CDROM 1st, The SAME for USB. Most modern motherboards will support ‘Boot from USB’ which will be 1 of the boot seq options!

    As to download links, they are rignt in FRONT of you: All files stored @ Rapidshare!

    It seems a lot of you are NOT really computer litterate in the sense of you dont know enough to go playing round with O/S’s!!!

    Leave that to the geeks.

    If you have more tech savvy friends get THEM to help you as Opsystems hacking, burning tweaking etc is NOT for novices!
